Mountain Cabin Grilled Hamburgers

A Rustic Recipe for the Perfect Outdoor Experience

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds of ground beef (preferably 80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 4 slices of aged cheddar cheese
  • 4 rustic bread rolls or brioche buns, toasted
  • Butter for toasting buns
  • Your favorite toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Ensure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

2. Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef, chopped onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, fresh parsley, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Be careful not to overwork the meat to keep the burgers tender.

3. Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up on the grill.

4. Grill the Patties

Place the patties on the preheated grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of aged cheddar on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

5. Toast the Buns

While the patties are grilling, spread a thin layer of butter on the insides of the rustic bread rolls or brioche buns. Place them on the grill, cut side down, for about 1-2 minutes or until they are lightly toasted and golden brown.

6. Assemble the Burgers

Remove the patties and buns from the grill. Place each cheese-topped patty on a toasted bun. Add your favorite toppings: a crisp lettuce leaf, a slice of juicy tomato, a few rings of red onion, and pickles. Finish with your preferred condiments.

7. Serve and Enjoy

Serve the grilled hamburgers immediately, enjoying the fresh mountain air and the unparalleled taste of a perfectly grilled burger prepared at your rustic cabin. Pair with a side of grilled vegetables or a simple salad for a complete meal.

Additional Tips

  • Consider adding a splash of bourbon to the meat mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
  • If you have access to fresh wild herbs at your cabin, incorporate them into your burger toppings for a unique twist.
  • For a smoky flavor, use wood chips or chunks on your grill and cover it to trap the smoke.

Enjoy your mountain cabin grilled hamburgers, a perfect blend of rustic charm and deliciousness!
